Job Summary and Qualifications
The Unit Secretary position organizes and manages the department's activities.
- You will perform clerical, receptionist, and marketing duties in accordance with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of Rose Medical Center.
- You Will Coordinates and facilitates the office functions to ensure high-quality services.
- You will Answers the telephone. Schedules patients for procedures, coordinating departments and physician availability.
- You will Performs patient admission functions, obtaining accurate and complete information.
- You will Transcribes physician orders and creates/maintains accurate patient medical records.
- You will Inputs all patient charges.
- You will Checks the Daily Activity Journal (DAJ) daily.
- You will Manages unit supplies, both routine and special orders, to maintain adequate department supply levels. Stocks patient care rooms.
- You will perform word processing and computer skills, including statistics, log sheets, ANSOS, and other items on an as-needed basis.
- You will Maintains schedule and attendance records.
- You will Assists with new employee processing.
- You will Assists the RNs with staffing issues.
- You will Interacts with other departments on an ongoing basis to facilitate optimum operations, including marketing ATU’s services. You will Maintains and updates the Policy and Procedure Manuals.
Position Requirements:
- College degree preferred but not required
- Minimum of three years of recent hospital clerical/receptionist/office experience preferred
- Must be competent in medical terminology.
- Excellent computer skills and trained in various computer programs, such as Microsoft Office, Excel, Meditech, and Kronos.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with co-workers, patients, physicians, and their office staff, and the public.
- Demonstrates good organizational and technical skills, as well as good problem-solving skills.
- Able to work on multiple tasks in a busy atmosphere.
