Job Summary and Qualifications

HCA Information Technology Group (ITG) is seeking an Assistant Vice President to lead our digital payer integration, reporting to the VP of Automation.

This position leads the development, implementation, and management of methods, standards, and technologies to ensure effective and efficient digital payer capabilities delivered at the best possible cost and with the best quality in the industry. This includes identification of opportunities, establishing evergreen inventory and priority schedule, consistent measurement of business impact, and increasing the velocity of solutions across numerous commercial payers and internal stakeholders.

This AVP will establish an overall strategy and implementation plan for digital payer engagement at scale, including evaluation of emerging and current industry leading toolsets. The scope of this role will focus on opportunities across HCA’s entire landscape of commercial payers, as well as multiple internal stakeholders such as Parallon, Payer Engagement, Case Management, Regs, and Legal.

A successful candidate will be a leader with demonstrated ability to manage a diverse team, lead by influence, and have a track record of successful delivery of large-scale complex solutions, preferably at a healthcare payer or provider company. This person must have the ability to take ownership and delivery while ensuring industry best practices.

This role works closely with other leaders in the Automation team and Operations Support Group to drive cohesive customer service and delivery across all stakeholders. Effective teaming and collaboration across each functional area will be crucial to success.

General Responsibilities:

  • Establishes payer integration strategy, roadmap, and implementation plan
  • Creates solution for opportunity ingestion, idea inventory, and prioritization
  • Maintains intentional rapport with broad scope of business leaders across HCA to identify and prioritize opportunities
  • Leads and encourages a positive team culture
  • Ensures accountability for delivery on commitments, including measurement of business impact (benchmarking and analysis)
  • Builds, maintains, and communicates consistent standards across HCA for external integration methods and technologies
  • Keeps up with industry best practices, leading methods and technologies, and implements them at the right level for HCA where appropriate
  • Establishes engagement capability to provide consulting and guidance to partnering teams across HCA
  • Helps internal organizations select and evaluate external resources and vendors as needed
  • Builds a central knowledge base of concepts, principles, and technical capabilities
  • Works with ITG Enterprise Architecture and Information Protection to ensure that our solutions are compatible and secure
  • Talent management, including engagement, recruitment, and retention
  • Establishing and nurturing rapport with key executive stakeholders
  • Ensuring executive presence in verbal and written communication

Work Experience and Special Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of Information Technology experience
  • 4+ years in a management role with technical teams
  • Experience in a large, complex healthcare payer environment is preferred
  • Experience with API, FHIR, and HL7 standards
  • Understanding of regulatory environment, including CMS interoperability rules
  • Experience in development and implementation methods and delivery environments
  • Proven ability to lead teams on integration development methodologies and best practices
  • Proven ability to get the work done on core team, but also motivate cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner
  • Experience in managing human resources and a significant departmental operating budget and project budgets
  • Demonstrated ability as a team player who encourages continuous improvement and innovation
  • Strong problem and issue resolution experience
  • Ability to prioritize multiple activities and tasks simultaneously, and adapt to a rapidly changing environment
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Business understanding and ability to drive results

Education, Experience and Certifications:

  • 10+ years relevant work experience
  • 4+ years management experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • Master’s Degree Preferred
